About the doctor . . .
Dr. Thomas S. Giugliano represents the newest breed of New York
City trained prosthodontists whose practice reflects the very latest in
clinical technologies along with a strong artistic and cosmetic emphasis.
A graduate of the prestigious dental program at the State University of New
York at Stony Brook, he is distinguished for having completed his clinical
requirements in less than the usual four years. From his early years,
Dr. Giugliano's scholastic history shows trends in academia seldom seen with
such consistency, including a full academic scholarship at the famous Regis
High School in Manhattan. There, he was among the top seven graduates
in this highly competitive environment. In college, he excelled
equally as a Biology major at New York University, graduating with "cum
laude" honors as a result of near perfect scholastic scores.
Upon completion of the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Dr. Giugliano was
asked to accept an appointment as Clinical Instructor with the Department of
Prosthodontics and Occlusion. As an instructor to other dentists still
in training, at age 27, he was one of the youngest appointees ever to this
post at NYU College of Dentistry. In 1989, Dr. Giugliano completed the
very rigorous specialty training program in Prosthodontics at NYU College of
Dentistry.
Dr. Giugliano has thus become known not only for his distinguished clinical
history but also for his warm and personable approach to the "patient as
person first", often overlooked by practicing dentists. His easy smile
and emphasis on careful listening allows the apprehensive dental patient to
quickly forget they are in the presence of impeccable scholarship.
Patients are often surprised that his humanistic concerns for patient
comfort are joined with the necessary talent to perform all aspects of
restorative dentistry with equal refinement. He is equally adept at
replacing cracked and loosened fillings through advanced bonding methods as
with the latest prosthodontic and reconstructive techniques for full mouth
restorations. Recently completing over 300 hours of continuing
education, he has become one of the few pioneering dentists in New York
trained to both surgically place implants AND complete the restoration of
implants.
Dr. Giugliano holds active memberships in many prestigious dental
organizations, including the American Dental Association, the New York State
Dental Society, the New York County Dental Association and the American
College of Prosthodontists. He is also a published author whose work
has appeared in the Journal of the Connecticut State Dental Association.
In free time from his demanding schedule, Dr. Giugliano relaxes through
reading and playing classical piano.
With almost 20 years experience in private practice, Dr. Giugliano has
perfected the special emotional commitments needed to place the anxious
dental patient at ease.
